Who We Are, What We Do

The El Dorado Arts Council (EDAC) is a non-profit organization that enrichs and educates the community in all the arts. We support the cultural and economic development of El Dorado County by advocating and creating the highest quality artistic and educational opportunities for visitors and residents — especially the young children of our County.

Through fundraising efforts, EDAC is able to provide resources to the schools so that all the arts — visual, performing, literary, etc — are available and affordable to our educators for use in their daily curriculum, school assemblies, or after school programs.

We also promote local artists by providing opportunities that allow them to further their careers — whether that is through EDAC sponsored/hosted events and programs — or through the many opportunities that cross our desk due to the "clearinghouse of information" that is gathered and shared because of our "umbrella organization" status.

Please consider becoming a member today — your generous support enables EDAC to fulfill our mission to "Keep the Arts Alive" in El Dorado County.

For at least ten years, it has been a goal — a dream — that the El Dorado Arts Council would have a physical space that reflects the creative wealth of the area. When 459 Main Street, Placerville, became available in late summer 2009, the organization’s Board of Directors decided the location and timing were right.

“From El Dorado Hills to South Lake Tahoe and in every town and village between, the community has supported the arts council for over twenty years. For a nonprofit organization that’s essential,” said Deb Jensen, Executive Director. “The opening of ArtSpace on January 22-23 is a celebration of community support for the arts.”

The photos on this page show how ArtSpace presents our vibrant art community so well.
