see if YOU should participate!
El Dorado Arts Council and the El Dorado County Department of

El Dorado County businesses and venues such as wineries,
flower shops and cafés which host music and art are also
encouraged to participate. Artists and businesses: please take the
short 4-question survey online: click here
(or go to the EDAC website, Arts Census article to take the survey).
You may also take the survey in person by visiting ArtSpace at 459 Main
St, Placerville (Tue-Sat,10a-5:30p), or by calling EDAC at (530)

Calls to Artists
A Thread of Gold, Placerville's First Community Mural
What: Be a part of a large-scale mural that will brighten the
face of Main Street. Come by ArtSpace to pick up your canvas.
Who: Entries welcome from professional artists, school
classes, and residents of all ages. Work with a group or individually to
create small-scale paintings that answer the questions:
'What do you love about living here?' and
'What
needs to happen to keep your love for this place alive?'
When: First
deadline is Thursday, October 14. The project will continue until all 22
sections are complete, so there's plenty of time to participate.
Where:
Herrick
(Hangman's Tree) building chain link fence, Main St, Placerville
Each
painting received by El Dorado Arts Council will be used to create a
large-scale collage-style mural.
We know you'll have questions about this exciting
project. We have received funding for 2 panels, which cost $250 each. Sponsor
a panel ($250), a painting ($100) or a brushstroke ($25). Click here and select "Donate
Other Amount." There are 22 chain link fence sections, and we'd love
to be able to cover all of them with beautiful art created by local
artists, students, and the community at large.
