This international exchange is a fun way to trade art locally and all

Susan Kelly DeWitt as the featured poet at
ArtSpace (459 Main St, Placerville). Susan is the author of The Fortunate Islands
(Marick Press), as well as eight small press collections. She has
also been featured on Writer's Almanac and Verse Daily; you may visit

A short poetry
open-mic follows (sign up before the feature). It's fun, free,
and open to the public.

Butterfly
Concert
Sunday, September 18, gates open at 4pm
|
|
The Butterfly returns to the Fairgrounds, co-presented
by the MVRCA Board of Directors, the Placerville Downtown
Association and the Placerville Area Convergence TeamPACT.
Gates open at 4pm (bring a picnic and enter the contest,
or participate in other fun activities); concert starts at 5:30pm.
Conducted by Roy Fulmer, the Sierra Symphony orchestra will take
the audience "From Batman to Narnia - A Musical Odyssey."
The music will include memorable movie themes from "Indiana
Jones," "Annie" and others. Tickets for adults
are $18 at the door; students are $12.

Father of the Bride
Imagination Theater, through Sept 24

Father of the
Bride continues to delight audiences at Imagination Theater on the El
Dorado County Fairgrounds. The story is set in the 1950's is about a
doting father who faces mountains of bills and endless trials when
his daughter marries.
The show runs
through Saturday, September 24 with shows on Thursdays and Fridays at
7:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. In addition, a
Saturday night show will be held September 17 at 7:00 p.m. Visit www.it-tickets.org or

their studios and enjoy their diverse talents. There will be 62
artists showing at 16 locations. Free

Fund Membership Celebration

guests and those interested in learning more about the Women's Fund are
invited to enjoy a cool summer luncheon buffet, learn more about
grant recipient organizations, and listen to three writers of the
national best seller book, The
Necklace. Collectively these women continue to use
their unique story of inspiration to motivate and encourage others, all

Requirements:
Artists must be a member of El Dorado Arts Council and live or
work in El Dorado County. Entries subject to approval by our
selection panel and are subject to a hanging fee (new in 2012).
Submissions must be gallery-ready. ArtSpace is located at 459 Main
Street in Placerville.
- Landscapes (Oct
11 - Nov 12, 2011) All media. Artists reception (6-8pm) is
concurrent with Placerville Art & Wine Festival, October 15.
Submissions should be dropped off October 6 - 8 from 11am-5pm for
review by the selection committee.
- Holiday Arts Market(Nov
25 - Nov 27) Gifts and holiday-inspired art for sale. This will be
held in the Rood Building on Main Street in Placerville. Artists
wishing to participate should submit an email with 5 pictures
of their work no later than Nov 15 for selection. Space is
limited. There is a $35.00 fee for participants, plus EDAC's
normal commission. This highly successful event also
needs artist volunteers to assist with sales.
- The Threads That Bind: A Fiber
Arts Exhibit (Feb 13 - Mar 10, 2012) An
exhibit featuring the wonderful fiber artists of El Dorado County.
Spun, woven, sewn, quilted, embroidered, knitted, crocheted work
welcome! Baskets welcome too! Reception February 18, 6-8pm.

East Meets West (Mar
13 - Apr 21, 2012) An all media exhibition of artistic expressions of
the Far East coming to California, a prelude to the Community Read
of Okei-San,
by Joan Barsotti. Receptions March 17th & April 15th.
Flowers Speak to Art
(Mar 17-18, 2012) Local florists create floral art to relate to East
Meets West art pieces.
- Bricolage (Apr
24 - May 21) An all media art exhibit celebrating Earth Day,
showcasing Bricolage (art from found and recycled materials).
Reception May 19.

- Donor Recognition Wall -
Public Art project. Calling for design ideas for a permanent wall
display to recognize individual donors to Friends of El Dorado
Seniors and the Placerville Senior Center. The wall space is
10 feet long and 7 feet high, located in a public space inside the
Placerville Senior Center. There is a need to be able to
add names periodically at low cost. Funding for this project has
been provided by a generous grant. All media will be considered.
Please submit initial concept by October 31; final proposal with
cost estimates both for the initial project and for name additions
